Mark your calendars for the 3rd annual Sandy Springs Lantern Parade on Saturday, April 21, 2018. The parade starts at Steel Canyon Golf Club and ends at Morgan Falls Overlook Park. Chantelle Rytter, the creator of the very successful Beltline, Grant Park, and Decatur Lantern Parades, produces our unique “Take It to the River” Lantern Parade. This year, Chantelle will introduce new dragonfly and great blue heron "puppet" lanterns to interact with the audience. The new additions will join last year's swans, Lilly and Billy, Alice the 25-foot albino alligator, Big Mama Sandy the turtle, and Jeremiah the bullfrog, accompanied by his lilies. Once the parade reaches the river, paddlers from High Country Outfitters will escort select lanterns to the river for a floating parade. Don't miss this riveting river light display!
Don't have a lantern? Take a look at these lantern ideas and workshop galleries for inspiration! Note: All lanterns are lit with battery-operated LED’s (no live flames permitted). The lanterns are carried on sticks, not released.
To walk in the parade, please arrive at Steel Canyon Golf Club beginning at 7:30 pm - the parade will step off around 8:30 pm. Parking is available in the Old World Pay Building and Sandy Springs City Hall. Parking is also available at North Springs United Methodist Church for $5.00. The money collected is used to support NSUMC outreach programs. All parking lots are a short walk to Steel Canyon Golf Club, so WEAR YOUR WALKING SHOES! Limited shuttle service will be available.
