The holidays are a busy time. You have gifts to buy, lights to put up and trips to plan all on top of your regular responsibilities. If you are feeling like you won’t have the time to bake cookies for Santa (or that fourth holiday potluck you’ve been invited to), then we have just the solution!
We’ve rounded up a list of some of our favorite locally made cookies. Sandy Springs is home to several cafes and bakeries that have delicious treats everyone will love. Santa will be thrilled to see any of these cookies next to a glass of milk on Christmas Eve, and you won’t have to clean the kitchen!
1. Macarons from Café Vendome
These light and fluffy French confections are sure to be a crowd pleaser. Café Vendome makes them in an assortment of flavors including pistachio, raspberry, lemon and coffee. Not only are they delicious, but they are also a colorful addition to any holiday meal. Luckily, Café Vendome has two locations in Sandy Springs.
2. Low Carb and Gluten Free Cookies from Zambawango
Looking for something a little healthier than the usual holiday desserts? Zambawango specializes in low carb and gluten-free desserts. They make a variety of cookies and pastries using almond and coconut flours, 99 percent pure chocolate, all-natural plant-based sweeteners and other natural ingredients. Zambawango desserts are baked in-house daily, and the menu changes frequently to include seasonal ingredients.
3. Sugar Cookies from Henri’s Bakery and Deli
This metro Atlanta institution can be your one stop shop for all of your holiday desserts. They offer a large selection of festive treats including adorable sugar cookies and gingerbread. You can even order a decorating kit for your gingerbread! They also have classic cookie flavors like chocolate chip, snickerdoodle, M&M and peanut butter. Order your holiday desserts at one of their three locations, including Sandy Springs. All orders require 48-hour notice.
4. Chocolate Chip Cookies from Breadwinner Café
Okay, Breadwinner Café is really known for its homemade breads. It’s in the name after all! And while those make excellent gifts (the cranberry-orange bread made Oprah’s list y’all), we really love their cookies, too. Their gigantic chocolate chip cookies will be the perfect midnight snack for Santa!
5. Candycanesnaps from Susansnaps
This family-owned bakery is dedicated to one particular type of cookie, the gingersnap. Susansnaps was founded by a mother and daughter, Laura and Susan Stachler. After Susan was diagnosed with cancer, her mother Laura realized that ginger was the perfect stomach soother for chemo. That led them down the path of opening their own bakery and writing the book “The Cookie Cure.” You can find the gingersnaps that started it all at their store in Sandy Springs, along with delicious variations like the festive Candycanesnaps. The cookies can also be ordered and shipped if a trip to the shop isn't possible.
Okay, now you are all set for Santa!
