An anniversary of any sort for a business is special, but 30 years is truly remarkable. For 30 years, Veronica’s Attic has been the go-to shopping destination for women in Sandy Springs. The shop is owned by Cecily Ross, a South African immigrant who has called Atlanta home for 30 years. She purchased Veronica’s Attic 15 years ago and has made it her own since then. We caught up with her to celebrate this important milestone.

For the uninitiated, what type of clothes can people expect to find in Veronica’s Attic?

“Veronica’s Attic carries a wide variety of clothing styles. We like to say we have something for everyone because we really do! We have some really funky styles, but we also have neutral tailored pieces as well. We carry pieces for all ages. Sometimes a 65-year-old woman will come shopping with her 40-year-old daughter and 18-year-old granddaughter, and all three women will find stylish age appropriate pieces that she loves.”

How has the shop changed in the past 30 years?

“In the last 15 years since I have owned Veronica’s Attic, I have tried to stay true to the original feeling and ambiance the store started with when it first opened. One of the most important aspects of the Veronica’s Attic shopping experience is the calming sensation one feels as they enter the store. A beautiful aroma of our favorite candle in the air, soft music in your ears, and colorful displays from floor to ceiling. Sometimes customers will come in and tell us they have had a bad day and they just want to walk around the store to decompress and turn their day around. That is the best compliment we could receive! […] One of the greatest changes we have made in the last 10 years has been the introduction of social media into Veronica’s Attic. Through Facebook and Instagram, we are able to reach people all across the country who have become fans (and customers) of our store! We are able to let the community know when we are hosting an event, having a sale, or show them what arrived that day. The most exciting part for us is that our customers can reach out directly through social media and communicate with us about what they love and what they want to see more of.“

What do you love most about your job?

“What I love most about my job is being able to make women feel positive and confident day after day.”

How do you describe your personal style?

“My personal style is trend-forward, while still being age appropriate. I love wearing color, I’m not afraid of bold prints, and I don’t hold back on accessorizing either.”

What do you like most about being in Sandy Springs?

“I really love the people of the Sandy Springs community.”

How have you been able to build such strong community support?

“We feel we have a commitment to help our customers look and FEEL great. We are completely honest with our customers and they appreciate that from us.”

How has the city changed in the time you’ve owned Veronica’s Attic?

“Since I have owned Veronica’s Attic, Sandy Springs has evolved into an amazing city! In fact, when I bought the store in 2003, Sandy Springs was not officially its own city yet. In my 15 years here I have seen it grow and develop into a beautiful more cosmopolitan area. We are especially excited to see what changes will evolve with the opening of the new City Springs later this year.”

What’s it like working with your daughter?

“Working with my daughter is fabulous! She adds a new energy and brings a greater connection to the younger generation.”

What can we expect to see from Veronica’s Attic in the future?

“We are always on the hunt for something new and exciting to share with our customers and the community. We travel to different shows every year to discover new lines, designers, and trends, and this year we are headed to Dallas! In addition to new products, though, we are exploring e-commerce through social media. This will make it possible for someone to see an item they like on Instagram and purchase it straight through the Social Media platform – so exciting!”
