It’s that time of year again! The weather is cooling down, leaves are changing to warmer colors, and the Halloween spirit is starting to take hold. If you're looking for ways to maximize the spookiness this October, then look no further! Here are just a few things happening around Sandy Springs:
Got a group of young trick-or-treaters who aren’t quite ready for Halloween’s ghosts, ghouls, and goblins? On October 21st at 5pm, spend a fun-filled evening at kid-friendly Spooky Springs. Tailored to young trick-or-treaters, the annual celebration at Abernathy Greenway Park features plenty of family-friendly entertainment, including costumed characters, trick-or-treating stations loaded with goodies, and face painting.
This year, Battle and Brew has not one, not three, but TWO Halloween-themed parties for you to attend:
First up, on October 21st, check out their Tim Burton Cosplay Party, where you'll dress up as your favorite Tim Burton characters. You have a wide range of options for this one: Jack Skellington, the Corpse Bride, Beetlejuice, 90% of Johnny Depp's filmography, and of course, the great Frankenweenie. They'll have a costume contest, drink specials, and more!
No one does Halloween quite like The Springs Cinema and Taphouse! They' have a stacked line-up of Fright Nights and movie parties for you to celebrate the spooky season the right way.
From October 14th - October 18th, they'll be showing the 1995 classic, Casper, on the big screen.
It's a heartwarming story of friendship, learning to not judge a book by its cover, and finding a sense of belonging. We can all learn a little bit from this friendly ghost. (Speaking of Casper, I saw a theory that he's the ghost of Richie Rich, and I am absolutely convinced. The resemblance is uncanny!)
On October 18th, there will be one showing of Trick 'r Treat, which is a slightly less family-friendly movie than Casper. It follows four different stories, all taking place on Halloween. It's just one of those go-to spooky movies filled with costumes, Jack-o-lanterns, murder-hungry demon children, and candy. You know, all the good stuff.
On October 25th, relive everybody's favorite Halloween slasher flick, with the cleverly named, Halloween.
It's not as terrifying nowadays, and maybe even a little bit cheesy, but that's part of the charm. Watch the infamous Michael Myers get his big break in this 1978 classic.
On October 29th, rounding out the Halloween season is their Beetlejuice Movie Party! Get ready for conga lines, interactions with the recently deceased, and much more. You can even re-use your costume from Battle & Brew's Tim Burton Cosplay Party!
We've all seen ghost hunter shows on TV and thought to ourselves, "Hey, I could do that". Well, now is your chance! The Southeastern Institute of Paranormal Research (SIPR) will lead an investigation at Sandy Springs' Lost Corner Preserve on October 21st and they'll be giving the inside scoop on how to sniff out some spirits. There will even be all of the state-of-the-art equipment necessary for a job like this, and they can't wait to go on this adventure with you!
This event will help fund the preservation of Lost Corner and will fill up fast! Tickets are $45.
Painting with a Twist is a great spot for you and a friend or partner to get together to have a fun and creative night out! They have daily guided painting classes and have multiple Halloween-themed paints planned.
They' have plenty more classes than just those three; check out their website to see all of their events!
On October 28th, from 6 PM to 11 PM, the Westin Atlanta Perimeter North's restaurant & bar, Savor, is throwing a Halloween extravaganza for just $25! Expect a costume contest, a live DJ, a robust menu of delicious eats, and a fully-stocked bar with refreshing drinks. Best of all, you can book a stay at the Westin so you don't have to worry about getting back home that night!
