For a Day With Perfect Weather: Abernathy Greenway Playable Art Park
You can expose your child to whimsical pieces of art, while enjoying exercise and fresh air at the Abernathy Greenway Playable Art Park. This unique award-winning park features one-of-a-kind sculptures that were designed to be functional pieces in a playground. The beautiful landscaping and long linear pathway make it a great spot for a leisurely walk with strollers, too.
For a Unique Experience: La Dee Da Children’s Art Studio
If you have a creative kid who loves to the arts, La Dee Da Studio is the move! This Sandy Springs children’s art studio offers classes, camps and parties where kids can explore their own creativity through artistic expression. Their programs can accommodate kids of different skill levels and ages from two to ten. Visitors looking for something a little more flexible will enjoy their Open Studio hours on Fridays and Sundays from 2 to 5 pm unless there is another event noted on their calendar. Open Studio cost is $15 per child which gives you access to all of our supplies, and from there on add a project of your choice. Project costs vary from $5 - $35. Kids will have unlimited access to all the glitter, pom-poms, sequins, everything they need to bring their imaginations to life. They also offer grab-n-go art and craft kits that are perfect for a variety of ages so your children can get creative anywhere!
For a Day Out in the Sun: Morgan Falls Overlook Park
There isn't a much better way to spend a sunny day than a trip to Morgan Falls Overlook Park! The park offers scenic views of the Chattahoochee River, relaxing hiking trails, and a beautiful green space that makes for the perfect picnic. Also, Murphs Surf Paddle Shack is located on-site at Morgan Falls Overlook Park, and they offer paddleboard rentals for the public to enjoy.

For a Rainy Day: The Springs Cinema and Taphouse
Seeing a movie is a classic rainy day activity, and The Springs Cinema and Taphouse takes family movie night to a whole new level. This luxury movie theater offers self-serve ticket kiosks, reserved seating in heated reclining chairs (warning – comfortable, heated seating may lead to naps), and new digital projection and audio. In addition to traditional concessions, they also offer a menu with pizza, sandwiches, appetizers, churro donuts and funnel cake fries. The Springs Cinema and Taphouse screens a wide range of movies including commercial releases, independent films, and classic Hollywood hits.
For a Day With Perfect Weather: Island Ford and Powers Island
If you want to explore the Chattahoochee River during your time in Sandy Springs, head to one of these units of the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area. Powers Island is home to an outpost of the Nantahala Outdoor Center, where guests can rent kayaks, paddleboards, tubes and rafts, and enjoy a day on the water. Island Ford is also a great place to put in a kayak if have your own or rent one to bring. Both parks also have excellent trails for hiking and picnic tables for a scenic lunch spot. For a One-of-a-Kind Experience: Battle and Brew
Battle and Brew is a unique gaming-themed restaurant with hundreds of console, VR, PC and tabletop games. The first restaurant of its kind in metro Atlanta, they’re known for their 21-and-over nightlife, but they do allow under-21 guests during the day. They have games suitable for casual players, hardcore gaming fans, and complete newbies. You can take your teens to enjoy their favorite video games, or the whole family can play one of Battle and Brew’s many board games all together.

East Palisades
Of the three units of the National Park Service’s Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area located in Sandy Springs, East Palisades offers the most scenic hiking trails in all of Sandy Springs, along with plenty of family photo-ops. Overlooks of the Chattahoochee River, diverse wildlife, and a lush bamboo forest all make for instagrammable moments. It also includes a slightly more challenging hike than Powers Island or Island Ford, so active families with older children will be sure to love this park.
