Makeda’s Homemade Butter Cookies
Makeda’s Homemade Butter Cookies — the legendary, family-owned bakery known for its “World Famous Butter Cookies” — has officially opened its first metro Atlanta location in Sandy Springs.
For over 26 years, Makeda’s has been a cornerstone of Memphis culture, founded by Maurice and Pamela Hill and built on family, tradition, and community. But beyond its famous cookies, Makeda’s holds a deeper meaning — it is forever connected to the legacy of Young Dolph, who was a loyal customer and vocal supporter of the business.
Makeda’s became a place of remembrance following the tragic loss of Young Dolph in 2021, transforming into a symbol of love, unity, and resilience for the Memphis community. Today, that same spirit is being carried into Atlanta.
“This expansion is bigger than business,” ownership shared. “It’s about legacy. It’s about honoring the love and support that helped build Makeda’s into what it is today. We’re bringing Memphis with us — the culture, the story, and the heart.”
Now open in Sandy Springs, the Atlanta location offers:
Fresh, made-to-order butter cookies
Signature flavors loved for generations
Homemade desserts like banana pudding and pies
A welcoming space rooted in family, culture, and community
The opening represents a powerful “Memphis Meets ATL” moment — where food, culture, and legacy intersect.
As customers walk through the doors, they’re not just experiencing a bakery — they’re stepping into a story that continues to inspire across cities.
