Can you believe it is already July? There are so many fun summer activities out there and so little time to enjoy them all. Here are some Visit Sandy Springs staff picks for things you should try in July:

A Chicago dog from Mike's Hot Dogs

A beloved quick-service spot that has been open since 1996, Mike’s Hot Dog serves up classic Chicago-style dogs with perfectly crispy fries. This classic American meal just tastes like summer.

Drive-in movies at The Springs Cinema and Taphouse

Drive-in movies are making a comeback. The Springs Cinema and Taphouse is still serving up their tasty concessions, but now in a drive-in setting while showing blockbuster films like Jaws, Grease, and Jurassic Park. Don’t worry, they are still offering movies inside in their super comfy reclining chairs too!

Paddle-boarding, kayaking or rafting on the Chattahoochee River

It’s not summer in Sandy Springs if you don’t spend some time on the Chattachoochee. Thanks to the two outfitters located in Sandy Springs, the High Country Paddle Shack and the Nantahala Outdoor Center’s outpost at Power Island, getting on the river is a breeze. Just rent your watercraft of choice and start your adventure!

Elotes and Esquites from El Elote and sandwiches from Cubanos ATL

These two food stands are located in the same plaza as Kudzu & Company and the popular craft studio, The Sipping Plant. El Elote is a seasonal stand serving up authentic street corn on weekend nights. Cubanos ATL is a brand new coffee and Cuban sandwich stand inside of a tiny house.

Ice Skating at Center Ice Arena

There is no denying that it is hot in Georgia during the summer. Public skating at Center Ice Arena is the perfect way to beat the heat while still doing something active.

Happy Hour at Big B’s Fish Joint

Oysters for $1, drinks for $5 AND patio seating? Is there a better way to unwind in the afternoon? This awesome special is available at Big B’s from 4-7 daily.

A Mango Tango smoothie from Ju-C Bar

Ju-C serves up a wide variety of healthy juices, salads, superfood bowls and swaps, but this sweet treat is our favorite. It’s the perfect refreshing reward for a day spent hiking or paddling.
