October has arrived! It's time for pumpkin spice, falling leaves, lederhosen and Halloween festivities. Here are six fun happenings to explore this week in Sandy Springs.
Tuesday, Oct. 3 at 6:30pm - This week's Titles @ Twilight features author Lynn Byrd. Her memoir, Sweetness and the Pits chronicles the Atlanta native's life through childhood, careers, and relationships with family, friends and community.
Titles @ Twilight promotes local authors, whose stories of history and the South represent a variety of topics. It is free to attend and takes place in the Garden Room at the Williams-Payne House, 6075 Sandy Springs Circle.
Wednesday, Oct. 4 at 8pm - Prove to everyone how much you know about Halloween. Study up on jack-o-lanterns, scary movies, candy and all other things associated with everyone's favorite haunted holiday for Halloween-themed #GeekTrivia hosted by the Ghastly Dreadfuls!
Thursday, Oct. 5 at 8:30pm - Quickly becoming a fixture at some of Atlanta's most iconic blues halls, Cody can be seen every Thursday at Darwin's Burgers & Blues. This talented young musician lights up the stage with a range of songs from graveyard blues classics and 90s hits to soulful originals.
Friday, Oct. 9 at 9pm - Held at Center Ice Arena in Sandy Springs, this 2.5 hour Learn-To-Curl class is open to all age groups and athletic abilities. You’ll learn how to throw a stone and sweep it into the house, before playing a short game at the end. All equipment is provided. All you need to bring is loose clothing and a pair of sneakers.
Saturday, Oct. 7 from 9am to 2pm - Abernathy Arts Center presents CONTRAPUNTO, an exhibition exploring the rich history of Latino culture and folklore. The free exhibit is open to the public and will be on display until October 13, 2017. Gallery hours are Tuesday-Friday from 9am to 5pm and Saturday from 9am to 2pm.
Saturday, Oct. 7 at 11am & Sunday, Oct. 8 at 2pm - Get ready for a day of beer, German fare and live music! The 5 Seasons staff will all be sporting dirndls and lederhosen, so dress festive and join the fun! The event includes all you can eat German Oktoberfest Food and all you can drink select beers for $45/person, and food OR beer only for $25/person. Reservations are suggested.

Sub Zero Nitrogen Ice Cream recently opened a location at the Prado in Sandy Springs. Create your own customized frozen treat, with your choice of cream, flavors, mix-ins, and toppings. Each order is made by hand, right before your eyes. It's a chilling good time!
