An event as monumental as a wedding calls for some serious planning, and for many people, one of the most important factors in creating an unforgettable day is choosing just the right spot to tie the knot. Situated just north of Atlanta alongside the scenic Chattahoochee River, Sandy Springs is a peaceful wedding-ready oasis. It’s home to a wide variety of charming venues with amenities and extras sure to make your day as special and stress-free as possible, from a handsome lodge to an upscale riverside restaurant to a snazzy performing arts center.

In addition, your out-of-town guests will have plenty of comfortable accommodations to choose from, including the Sheraton Atlanta Perimeter North Hotel, Homewood Suites by Hilton, and the luxurious Westin Perimeter North. And beyond the wedding festivities, they’ll find plenty to keep them busy with shopping and dining at the new City Springs downtown area, an outdoorsy day at Morgan Falls Overlook Park, or taking in a play or film at one of Sandy Springs’ theaters.

Whatever your tastes and wherever you’re from, planning an enchanting wedding will be a breeze in Sandy Springs. Here are a few of the most magical places to say “I do” in Sandy Springs.

1. Ray’s on the River

The serene flow of the Chattahoochee River provides a beautiful backdrop for Ray’s on the River. For 35 years, this award-winning steak and seafood restaurant has been delighting guests with its seafood-centric menu and exceptional wine selection, which also happen to make it an excellent choice for a classy wedding venue.

For weddings, Ray’s provides all food and beverage catering (except for the cake), so you can scratch “venue” and “cuisine” off your to-do list. You’ll even be assigned a designated event chef who will prepare and serve dishes at your reception. Ray’s on the River has four separate spaces for weddings and related events, which you can customize to your party’s size and preferences.

The Riverside Garden is a beautifully landscaped woodland area between the restaurant and the Chattahoochee, providing a delightful setting for a serene outdoor ceremony for up to 120 guests, with winding gravel paths and lovely flower gardens.

Inside the newly built Grand Pavilion, you and your guests will find a graceful, modern space where you can dance and dine after the ceremony. The pavilion can seat up to 180 guests and features a vaulted ceiling, a stylishly rustic chandelier, and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the Riverside Garden.

Ray’s offers two additional indoor venues that are well-suited for smaller celebrations. The Banquet Room is a private space where up to 70 guests can enjoy a rehearsal dinner or small reception, while the semi-private River Room is excellent for a bridal shower or other intimate gathering.

2. Huntcliff River Club

On the north end of Sandy Springs, this inviting lodge combines grandeur and coziness for an unforgettable wedding day. Nestled on the banks of the Chattahoochee River, the Huntcliff River Club is surrounded by pastures and oak forests, creating a bucolic backdrop for your festivities.

Tie the knot at a gorgeous outdoor ceremony amid the natural beauty of the riverfront, and then adjourn to the River Room for a reception with panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. The River Room includes a dance floor and can host up to 100 seated guests inside, while the heated balcony can accommodate 60 more. (The balcony’s stunning vantage point will make these the most coveted seats in the house!)

Huntcliff River Club offers a bridal dressing room, tables, chairs, and a catering kitchen. Plus, the club provides access to a venue manager who will be with you every step of the way.

3. Heritage Sandy Springs Museum and Park

Before you start thinking, “I’m not getting married at a museum,” hear us out. Heritage Sandy Springs is a local nonprofit organization that operates the city’s four-acre Heritage Green and the historic Williams-Payne House. Its sprawling lawns, surrounding woods, and charming structures make it easily one of the most idyllic spots around. And it feels peaceful and fresh, even though it’s located right in the middle of the city. Heritage Sandy Springs offers four different venues within its grounds, so you can create your ideal wedding day for up to 175 seated guests.

The Williams-Payne House and Grounds includes a grassy and wooded two-acre space that can seamlessly transition from an outdoor ceremony to a garden reception. The park offers a charming lighted gazebo, brick terrace, and rustic shelter that covers the original Sandy Spring. This venue also includes the lower level of the 1880s farmhouse-style Williams-Payne House where you’ll have access to a dressing room, the enclosed Garden Room, and a prep kitchen for the caterer.

The Community Room and Veranda is a 1,100-square-foot indoor space that acts as a blank canvas for rehearsal dinners, wedding showers, or even a pre-reception cocktail hour. You’ll also have the option to use the Veranda, which is a covered terrace that looks out over the grounds and makes a great hangout spot for guests.

The largest venue is the Entertainment Lawn, a 14,000-square-foot tiered lawn that slopes down to a large concrete stage, where a wooden trellis makes for a quaint backdrop for the ceremony. This space can also be transitioned into an outdoor reception area, and Heritage Sandy Springs staff will set up the tables and chairs of your choice.

Finally, Heritage Hall is a large ballroom that opens right onto the Entertainment Lawn. (You can bundle these two together if you prefer to have both indoor and outdoor spaces for your reception.) The hall features a large laminate dance floor, a full catering kitchen, and a bridal dressing room.

4. City View Terrace

Craving a chic wedding spot that’s sure to dazzle guests? Look no further than the recently opened City View Terrace at the Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center. Views of City Green below, the Atlanta skyline to the south, and the soft outline of the Blue Ridge Mountains to the north make for photo opps galore, while posh extras like a decorative water wall and stylish outdoor furniture add a dash of glamour to the venue. The center also offers a large ballroom and several other flexible spaces that can be included to add an indoor area to your reception.

Whether you choose to go chic or rustic, your wedding in Sandy Springs is sure to be an unforgettable event for you and your guests. An eclectic mix of lodges, clubs, restaurants, and halls offer a wide range of options to create the perfect atmosphere, no matter the size of your party or the vibe you’re going for. Plus, every location provides a liaison who will ensure that your special day runs smoothly. When you choose a Sandy Springs wedding venue, you can relax and focus on what’s most important—making wonderful memories with your loved ones and, of course, your soon-to-be-spouse.
