The Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area www.nps.gov/chat is part of the Sandy Springs community and in close proximity to our thriving business district. Another enchanting outdoors resource is Big Trees Forest Preserve, which offers 1.5 miles of trails, creeks and bridges for relaxing and stretching your legs in a serene forest environment.

The Chattahoochee River NRA offers several outdoor activities. Hiking, fishing, picnicking, rafting, canoeing, kayaking, and evening family programs. Several vendors are licensed to rent rafts, tubes, canoes, and kayaks for day use on the river. Whether you are a beginner, a paddler, or an experienced kayaker, you may want to join one of Richard Grove’s Challenger Kayak Series events scheduled at various times throughout the year: www.georgiakayaker.com/challenge.html.
